DHC SwEEtch is a Europe‑wide initiative that equips district heating and cooling (DHC) operators with the technical expertise needed to create 2050 decarbonisation roadmaps and decade‑long investment plans. Through systematic mapping of demand and local renewable or waste‑heat resources, advanced system modelling, infrastructure assessments, and detailed financing strategies, the project enables networks to integrate renewable sources such as biomass, solar thermal, geothermal, and storage solutions. Starting with pilots in Italy, Poland, and Croatia, DHC SwEEtch will expand to ten DHC networks by 2025, offering outreach, training, and collaborative platforms that build stakeholder capacity and foster sustainable urban energy transitions.
