About
Drum Corps International (DCI) is a nonprofit organization that serves as the governing body for elite youth marching music ensembles, including competitive drum corps, SoundSport performance groups, and DrumLine Battle teams. Since its founding in 1971, DCI sanctions more than 100 events each year across North America, providing education, competition, and performance platforms for musicians aged 13‑22. DCI delivers value through a comprehensive ecosystem of programs—such as Drumline Battle, SoundSport, Bandtastic, and the Marching Music Health and Wellness Project—backed by corporate sponsorships, broadcast initiatives, and extensive outreach. This network reaches over 7.2 million young participants, fostering excellence in performance while promoting personal growth and the broader societal benefits of marching music.
