About

Foxleigh Mine is an open‑cut coal operation situated in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, 2 km south of Middlemount. Since commencing production in January 2000, the mine has specialized in extracting premium low‑volatile, pulverised‑coke‑injection (LV PCI) coal for the global export market. In 2016, Middlemount South acquired a 70 % stake in the joint venture, joining POSCO Australia (20 %) and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Australia (10 %) as co‑owners. The operation leverages comprehensive mining, engineering, and technical services—including mine planning and professional management—to deliver high‑quality coal while maintaining efficient, sustainable production in the Bowen Basin region.
