About

Gwinnett County Government administers public services for a rapidly expanding community of over one million residents in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Strategically located within 45 minutes of Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 30 minutes of downtown Atlanta, the county offers extensive transportation infrastructure, including more than 2,750 miles of roadways and direct highway connections to regional hubs such as the University of Georgia. The county’s executive operations are overseen by a County Administrator and a Board of Commissioners, supported by 15 department directors responsible for core functions such as public safety, fire and emergency services, corrections, child advocacy, finance, human resources, information technology, parks and recreation, planning and development, water resources, and transportation. Additional services are delivered through independently elected constitutional officers, including the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate, ensuring comprehensive governance and community support.
