About

The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) is an interdisciplinary hub within the Department of Biomedical Engineering, linking the Whiting School of Engineering and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. CBID delivers a rigorous one‑year Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) program that immerses students in the full cycle of medical device development—from clinical needs assessment and design to prototyping, testing, and commercialization—while providing hands‑on clinical rotations at Johns Hopkins Medicine and in low‑resource health settings abroad. Participants collaborate with researchers, clinicians, engineers, and industry advisors, gaining both technical expertise and entrepreneurial skills that prepare them to create innovative health‑care solutions and advance their careers in biomedical engineering.
