The Office for Early Childhood Development is a South Australian government office dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families. Established in response to the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the Office acts as a system steward, driving initiatives to expand access to high-quality preschool programs for 3- and 4-year-olds and support families during the critical first 1,000 days of a child’s life. This is achieved through strategic partnerships with government agencies, Aboriginal leaders, sector stakeholders, and communities. The Office focuses on systemic and local improvements, including increasing preschool capacity, integrating services, and implementing evidence-based practices to foster healthy child development and enhance workforce participation for parents.
