Southwestern Public Health serves the Woodstock and St. Thomas communities by delivering a full spectrum of public health services mandated under the Ontario Public Health Standards and the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act. The unit focuses on immunization, health promotion, infection prevention and control, harm reduction, environmental health, healthy schools, sexual health, smoking cessation, and safe food handling. By integrating these core programs with proactive emergency response and community partnership, Southwestern Public Health addresses both immediate health threats and long-term social determinants of health. Its distinctive strength lies in a holistic, community-centric approach that promotes healthy lifestyles while safeguarding public health infrastructure.
