Details of the Position: The Volunteer Program Coordinator ensures that the volunteer program is run in a professional, supportive and efficient manner with attention to confidentiality, safety for clients and volunteers,
and provision of appropriate training for volunteers.
Qualifications: A formal course of study in Volunteer Management with attainment of certification is required. A diploma in a related field may also be considered. A Minimum of two years recent related experience is
required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous supervisory and/or management experience is preferred. Formal education and experience in adult education or
training will be considered an asset.
Classification and Grid Integrated-Family Support Worker/Transition House Worker, Grid 12 (JJEP Wage Grid)
Hours 28 hours per week
Starting Pay Rate: $30.95 per hour, 2026 wage grid
Benefits: As specified in the Collective Agreement

Additional Information This position supports an essential service working with direct client contact, and requires union membership, satisfactory completion of a criminal records search, and Standard First Aid Certificate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develops a clear vision, mission and plan for the Volunteer Program. Develop policies and procedures on an ongoing basis for the program.
2. Recruits, interviews, selects, schedules, coordinates and supervises volunteers throughout the agency. Orients and provides for training of staff and volunteers in the program. Evaluates the volunteers on a regular
basis for job satisfaction and performance. Make decisions for continued service, reassignment, or termination when necessary.
3. Evaluates the program, makes recommendations to the Program Manager and plans for implementation of recommendations as approved for the improvement of the program.
4. In conjunction with Program Managers, and as appropriate with other staff, identifies volunteer staffing needs of the programs.
5. Assesses volunteer abilities and ensures that appropriate and meaningful placement of volunteers is achieved.
6. Advocates for volunteers within the agency. Debrief issues arising from volunteering. Maintain contact with volunteers and facilitate regular meetings and special trainings.
7. Provides for appropriate and regular recognition of volunteers.
8. Maintains the Volunteer Program budget.
9. Maintains personnel files on all volunteers. Ensure that records, statistics, and reports are accurate and up to date.
10. Provides liaison with other community resources on behalf of the Volunteer Program and the agency with a view to keeping professionals and the public aware of the work of the Volunteer Program.
11. Liaises and works in consultation with Crisis Line Volunteer Program Trainer to ensure quality delivery of the training program and service to clients.
Performs other related duties as required.
Job Skills and Abilities: Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, including conflict resolution skills knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of the volunteer management field excellent time management skills strong interviewing and assessment skills ability to consult, collaborate and coach. Ability to work effectively with other program team members.
Additional Information: This position is required to work in an environment with clients experiencing crisis or interpersonal situations. Support is often related to long-term impacts of physical, financial, verbal, sexual and emotional abuse. Staff often work on their own, on site.
