3D Modelling Specialist

NOV South Africa is seeking a talented 3D Modelling Specialist to join our team based in Gqeberha (PE). You will be responsible for converting high-poly CAD models into optimized low-poly models for use in our simulator environment. Our simulators recreate complex oil-rig environments with a high level of realism, enabling teams to train, test , and operate more safely in high-risk conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert high-poly CAD models to production-ready low-poly models
  • Optimize 3D assets for simulator performance and integration
  • Collaborate with engineering and simulation teams
  • Maintain quality standards and technical specifications

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Bachelor of Arts or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years creating 3D models, animations, visual effects, and digital content with professional 3D graphics software
  • Experience in simulator or gaming environments

Technical competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in 3D modeling software (3ds Max preferred)
  • Or strong proficiency with alternative 3D applications: Blender; Houdini; Maya
  • Proven experience converting CAD models to game-ready assets
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy
  • Knowledge of Inventor or AutoCAD (Preferred)
  • Solid understanding of polygon optimization techniques

Physical Requirement:

  • Comfortable working with complex technical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work in an office-based team environment
