Staff Nurse

Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 5.30pm
Saturday: 8.30am – 1.00pm (Alternate Saturdays upon confirmation)
Salary: $3,500 - $5,000 + AWS + Variable Bonus
Location: Mount Elizabeth Hospital

Job Summary

  • Provide perioperative nursing care

  • Assist surgeon during operation

  • Monitor and assess patients during surgical procedures

  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary caregivers in providing safe and efficient patient care

Job Description:

Patient Care Management

  • Perform checks and prepare the operating room for procedures.

  • Respect and protect patients' rights and confidentiality.

  • Assess patients pre-operatively and complete patient safety checks prior to procedures.

  • Check and ensure full preparation of sets, sutures, and supplementary supplies prior to surgery.

  • Assist in IR procedure room.

  • Assist surgeons and coordinate with surgeons or anesthetists to ensure smooth running of surgery lists.

  • Assist in anesthesia, recovery, circulating duties, and any other duties within the team.

  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis where necessary.

  • Provide guidance to new or junior staff to ensure quality nursing care is rendered.

  • Implement and maintain the principles of sterility and asepsis for all procedures and techniques.

  • Comply with established infection control guidelines and practices.

  • Recognize and intervene in emergency situations involving patient care or team members.

  • Document accurately and legibly in relevant patient care records, including billing of consumables and implants.

  • Assist in maintaining safe custody of Controlled Drugs.

Patient Education

  • Maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships with patients and caregivers.

Professional Development

  • Participate in continuing nursing education to maintain clinical knowledge and competence.

  • Provide constructive feedback to the Supervisor regarding staff clinical performance.

  • Implement and conduct in-service education and unit-based orientation for OT nurses.

  • Serve as a liaison and resource person for perioperative nurses.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisors.

Resource Management

  • Demonstrate proper use, care, and maintenance of instruments, equipment, and supplies.

  • Demonstrate proper and economical usage of sterile supplies and consumables.

  • Assist in inventory management and equipment maintenance.

  • Ensure adequate daily supplies of consumables.

  • Assist with optimal OT room utilization.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Staff Nurse in a clinical setting.

  • Minimum Diploma in Nursing.

  • Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).

  • BCLS & AED Certified.
