Accounting Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee and manage a portfolio of clients across various industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance services while leading a team of accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
- Oversee the full set of accounts for a portfolio of clients from various industries.
- Review bookkeeping records, accounting entries, and financial statements prepared by team members.
- Ensure timely preparation of management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
- Monitor compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Liaise with clients, auditors, bankers, and regulatory authorities on accounting-related matters.
- Review payroll reports and statutory payroll-related submissions where applicable.
- Assist clients with accounting system implementation, process improvements, and internal controls.
- Manage client onboarding and ensure smooth transition of accounting functions.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to junior team members.
- Monitor work progress, resource allocation, and team performance to meet deadlines and client expectations.
- Handle complex accounting matters and provide practical solutions to clients.
- Support client relationship management and maintain a high standard of professional service.
- Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in an accounting firm, corporate services firm, outsourcing firm, or professional services environment is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, full-set accounting, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, AutoCount, SQL Accounting, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and client management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and work under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
