Accountant

The successful candidate will support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, assist with month-end close activities, perform account reconciliations, and provide financial analysis that supports informed business decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Ziegenfelder Accountant is responsible for:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, general ledger entries, and supporting documentation
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing responsibilities including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
- Responsible for the timely filing and paying taxes corporate and state
- Prepare sales tax filings, annual personal property tax filings, and other regulatory reports as needed
- Reporting unclaimed funds to the prospective agencies
- Actively leading and participating in monthly-end inventory sample selection for test counts for all locations including reconciling parts and fabrication inventory
- Support audits by providing requested financial information and documentation
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable team
- Partner and provide solutions for accounting irregularities and process improvement
- Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
- Engage in critical and confidential aspects of financial reporting and accounting department, including understanding key elements of company's risk profile.
- Assist with other ad-hoc accounting projects as necessary. Such projects may include: testing of internal controls, workflow process improvements, and database management to aid in the company meeting budgetary goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment with a high level of intellectual curiosity, and a passion and desire to understand and improve upon business processes.
- Ability to instill a positive team environment. Must be able to communicate comfortably with the shop floor as well as department directors.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to concisely summarize monthly operating results with department directors and others.
- Ability to work in a rigorous environment where priorities can change quickly; strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to partner cross functionally, through strong relationship building, influencing, negotiating and communication skills, with all levels of management.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as experienced with financial reporting and general ledger software applications.
