Accountant IPosition Overview
This position within the Corporate Accounting department will be responsible for performing accounting duties supporting various Shaw entities. This position includes managing relationships with divisional accountants or service providers and applying US GAAP accounting principles to prepare accurate and timely reporting and related analyses.
Responsibilities:
Prepare journal entries with adequate supporting documentation.
Monitor, maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts between the parent company and subsidiaries.
Draft reporting packages for the subsidiaries, or review and approve reporting packages provided by local accountants/3rd party service providers.
Manage month/quarter/year-end process to ensure all is accomplished on a timely basis to meet required deadlines internally and externally.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Document and maintain current processes and procedures.
Participate in business and system projects that impact accounting and financial reporting.
Work with all areas of Finance (Financial Services, Treasury, Corporate Assets and Tax) and outside of Finance (IS group, Customer service, etc.) to support financial operations of the subsidiaries.
Recognize process improvement opportunities and make recommendations to improve quality, timeliness and accuracy of intercompany transactions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Existing understanding and knowledge of US GAAP.
Familiarity with consolidations and intercompany accounting is strongly preferred.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and ability to work with detail.
Follows direction without close supervision.
Position may be filled as an Accountant I or II, depending on experience.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
