Accountant (m/f/d) — CPRO Belgium
CPRO / CERAL is a premium Belgian pet food company in Wallonia (~20 FTE), recently acquired by AlphaPet Ventures. We are looking for a hands-on Accountant to take operational ownership of the entity's day-to-day books on site. You work directly with the GM, with our Belgian fiduciaire on monthly closing, and with APV Group Finance for reporting and alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take operational accounting responsibility for the CPRO / CERAL entity, owning the day-to-day books end to end.
- Day-to-day bookkeeping: book invoices, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconcile bank accounts daily, run payments and dunning.
- Reconcile payment service providers and ensure clean clearing of related accounts.
- Maintain the fixed-asset register under Belgian GAAP.
- Prepare and hand off the monthly closing file to our Belgian fiduciaire; act as internal point of contact for their questions.
- Coordinate VAT, intrastat, and other recurring statutory filings with the fiduciaire.
- Act as a key contact for auditors, tax inspectors, and social-security inspections — gather documentation and respond to information requests.
- Support monthly group reporting to APV Group Finance.
- Handle the various day-to-day accounting tasks that arise in a small, hands-on finance function.
Experience
- 3+ years of operational accounting experience in an SME or small-business context — hands-on bookkeeping, not supervisory only.
- Working knowledge of Belgian accounting practice, VAT, and standard statutory reporting.
- Experience working with an external fiduciaire — comfortable handing off closing rather than running it in-house.
- Experience in mid-sized group structures or start-ups is a plus.
- Completed commercial or accounting qualification (or qualification as a finance accountant).
Hard Requirements
- Languages: French native or bilingual; English business-fluent; Dutch a strong plus.
- Systems: Strong Excel. Comfortable learning Odoo.
- Location: On-site in Wallonia. Not suitable for remote.
- Availability: 20–25 hours/week across the working week.
Mindset
- Independent, structured, and results-oriented, with high attention to detail.
- Reliable and committed — accounting fundamentals require it.
- A team player, discreet with sensitive financial data.
- Direct — able to flag issues and ask for help.
- Responsible, stimulating, and varied tasks within a dynamic company with flat hierarchies and an open, relaxed, family-oriented working culture
- You will be working for a Belgian Super Premium brand
We look forward to receiving your application with a CV, along with your earliest possible start date.
