Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role within Billtrust's global accounting organization, based in India. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of Senior Staff Accountants and the Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all accounting operations within scope. Beyond day-to-day close and AP management, this role plays an important part in supporting EU statutory reporting across Billtrust's European entity group (Netherlands, Belgium, Poland), coordinating with local advisors, and maintaining compliance across multiple GAAP frameworks. The Accounting Manager will partner closely with the Senior Manager, Accounting to drive continuous process improvement, contribute to EQT investor reporting, and support cross-functional initiatives across the global finance organization.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management
- Directly manage and develop a team of Senior Staff Accountants and AP specialists based in India,providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
- Set clear expectations, delegate effectively, and hold team members accountable for deliverables and deadlines.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Partner with the Senior Manager, Accounting on capacity planning, hiring decisions, and team structure.
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Oversee and review journal entries prepared by Senior Staff Accountants, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and compliance with US GAAP.
- Manage the month-end close process for assigned balance sheet and income statement areas, ensuring timely completion in accordance with the close calendar.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, ensuring all reconciling items are resolved within defined SLAs.
- Coordinate with the Senior Manager, Accounting to support EQT reporting deliverables and financial statement preparation.
- Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls across the team.
Accounts Payable Oversight
- Provide direct oversight of the AP function, including invoice processing, vendor payment execution, and AP subledger management.
- Ensure vendor payments are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with company payment policies (including the 10-day post-due payment policy).
- Review and approve weekly payment runs, including cross-border and wire payments, prior to submission for senior approval.
- Oversee month-end AP accruals and ensure AP aging is reviewed and reconciled to the general ledger at close.
- Partner with Procurement on purchase order matching, vendor onboarding, and approval workflow compliance within Coupa.
- • Monitor AP automation performance (Coupa AI invoice capture), identify exceptions, and drive resolution.
EU Statutory Reporting & International Compliance
- Support preparation and review of statutory financial statements for European entities (Netherlands, Belgium, Poland) in accordance with applicable local GAAP (Dutch GAAP, BE GAAP,Polish GAAP).
- Assist in coordinating statutory audits with local external auditors (e.g., Grant Thornton Belgium,
- KPMG/Meijburg Netherlands, Poland advisors), including preparation of audit support packages and resolution of auditor queries.
- Maintain reconciliations between US GAAP books in Sage Intacct and local statutory positions,identifying and documenting GAAP-to-GAAP differences.
- Support VAT reconciliation and reporting across EU jurisdictions, ensuring input/output VAT accounts are properly classified and reconciled to VAT returns each period.
- Assist with intercompany (IC) loan reconciliations and elimination entries across the Anachron/Billtrust Europe entity group.
- Coordinate with local advisors and internal stakeholders on entity-level compliance matters, including corporate income tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, and regulatory deadlines.
- Support corporate restructuring activities including entity dissolutions, mergers, and name changes, ensuring accounting records accurately reflect legal changes.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and review monthly management reporting packages, including variance analysis and flux commentary for assigned areas of the P&L and balance sheet.
- Assist in preparing board-level and CFO-level financial summaries, highlighting key drivers and exception items.
- Maintain supporting schedules for prepaid amortization, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and other balance sheet areas.
- Partner with FP&A on budget-to-actual variance explanations and forecast inputs for areas within scope.
Technical Accounting
- Prepare or review technical accounting memos to document positions on complex or non-routine transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment for multi-currency transactions, including foreign exchange revaluation and translation adjustments.
- Support the accounting for India entity operations (BT India), including OpEx classification, intercompany charges, and local compliance requirements.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and AP processes through automation, standardization, and technology (including Coupa, Sage Intacct, and AI tooling).
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting documentation, reconciliations, and control evidence.
- Assist in the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls; ensure team adherence to control procedures and SOX-aligned frameworks.
- Serve as a key point of contact for BDO (external auditors) during audit fieldwork, coordinating requests across the team and ensuring timely, accurate responses.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects including ERP process improvements, entity integrations, restructuring activities, and cross-functional finance initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA (Chartered Accountant) designation strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with experience managing month-end close, GL reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing accounts payable operations, including vendor payment execution, AP accruals, and P2P workflow management.
- Experience with EU statutory reporting under one or more local GAAP frameworks (Dutch GAAP, BE GAAP, Polish GAAP, or similar); familiarity with the differences between local GAAP and US GAAP.
- Experience supporting statutory audits and coordinating with external auditors across multiple jurisdictions.
- Working knowledge of VAT reporting and reconciliation in EU jurisdictions.
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency accounting environment with intercompany transactions.
- Experience with ERP systems; Sage Intacct experience a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively across global time zones.
- Proven ability to manage and develop team members in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a B2B SaaS or private equity-backed company environment.
- Familiarity with Coupa or other procure-to-pay platforms.
- Exposure to corporate restructuring activities (entity mergers, dissolutions, name changes) and therelated accounting implications.
- Knowledge of transfer pricing concepts and intercompany charge structures in a multinational environment.
- Working knowledge of ASC 842 (leases), ASC 350-40 (SaaS cost capitalization), or ASC 805 (business combinations).
- Experience supporting BDO, Big 4, or regional audit firm fieldwork in a complex multi-entity environment.
- Interest in and aptitude for AI-driven workflow automation and process optimization.

- On-time close completion rate for all assigned GL areas and AP deliverables.
- Accuracy and completeness of account reconciliations with no unresolved items past SLA.
- AP payment accuracy and timeliness; reduction in payment exceptions and vendor escalations.
