Accounting Manager Germany (m /w/ d)

As a Accounting Manager Germany (m/f/d) - German speaker, you will be the subject matter expert in Statutory (HGB) and US GAAP accounting to deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, trial balance analysis, annual statutory financial statements and audits. You will build strong understanding of statutory requirements, Emerson internal controls, accounting policies and help mitigate accounting and reporting risk. You will bring fresh perspective to enhance accounting processes, conduct day-to-day accounting work and drive issue remediation, coordinate annual external and internal audits, ensure timely completion of regulatory/statistical reporting to governmental authorities.
This role will closely collaborate with accounting shared services team and VAT center of excellence on a day-to-day basis to ensure accurate accounting and reporting. You will also work closely with broader finance and cross functional teams to ensure accounting compliance, adherence to Emerson accounting policies and reporting.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting, including preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial statements and disclosures in line with local regulations and Emerson policies
  • Close partnership with Finance and Shared Services to ensure timely month-end close process and effectively resolve technical accounting issues.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual "data request" submissions to EMEA HQ team.
  • Actively contribute to the completeness and quality of account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis. Execute necessary remediation plans for open and unreconciled items.
  • Maintain depth and breadth of expertise in Statutory/Technical accounting.
  • Interpret accounting standards and internal policies, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and supporting implementation of new requirements.
  • Develop and enhance process documentation, process maps and risk control matrix to improve the internal control framework.
  • Drive consistency and harmonization of accounting policies and processes across German legal entities.
  • Partner with Internal auditors, external auditors to resolve complex technical accounting matters for Statutory and US GAAP audits.
  • Lead initiatives defined by management.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with EMEA HQ, local finance teams, shared services, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency on deliverables and timelines, maintaining clear and proactive communication with stakeholders.
  • Prepare needed journal entries and support shared services with accounting queries.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics from an accredited university
  • More than 10 years of experience with HGB and US GAAP, preferably at a multinational company
  • Fluent in German language with good English language skills
  • Strong SAP expertise (especially FICO) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • In-depth experience with Hyperion/HFM
  • Proven expertise in technical accounting with a strong command of HGB (statutory) and US GAAP.
  • Experience managing external and internal audits including preparation of statutory financial statements (notes and management report)
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex accounting issues.
