ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Job Summary

The Accounts Assistant will support the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the company by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The role is responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payment processing, reconciliations, and maintaining proper accounting records. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process invoices, credit notes, and payment requests accurately and on schedule to support financial operations
  • Monitor customer payments and proactively follow up on outstanding receivables to maintain cash flow
  • Process vendor invoices and coordinate timely payments to uphold supplier relationships
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable and payable transactions to ensure data integrity
  • Perform bank reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate cash balances
  • Verify employee expense claims and supporting documents to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Organize and maintain filing and documentation of financial records for easy retrieval and audit readiness
  • Assist in month-end closing activities and prepare accounting schedules to support financial reporting
  • Support preparation of financial reports and audit documentation to facilitate compliance and transparency
  • Liaise with vendors, customers, and internal departments on finance-related matters to ensure smooth communication
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and finance procedures to safeguard company assets
  • Support ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as assigned to contribute to team effectiveness

Required competencies and certifications

  • Diploma, Higher NITEC, or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and ERP platforms.
  • Experience in a startup, SME, or fast-paced environment is an advantage.
