Accounts Payable Clerk

Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP) is the largest veterinary-owned distributor in Canada. Located 25 minutes North-East of London in St. Marys, Ontario, our primary purpose is to ensure that veterinarians have the supplies they need, when they need it, to provide healthcare to all types of animals. We are looking for new members to join our Finance team in the Accounts Payable Clerk role. Be a part of the supply chain industry and join VP!


Accounts Payable Clerk

This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will perform various accounting and administrative tasks to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate entry of financial transactions related to accounts payable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining approvals, coding, and entering invoices.
  • Processing payments, reconciling supplier statements, and maintaining AP and filing system.
  • Inputting information into the Accounts Payable database.
  • Monitoring available discounts and recommending payments as appropriate.
  • Preparing cheques, send out backup to Vendors paid by Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Reconciling accounts payable and preparing monthly reports.
  • Calculating employee cash sales for payroll deduction.
  • Processing and analyzing invoices and payments to third-party freight carriers.
  • Ensuring accuracy of shipping charges and billing out as appropriate.
  • Understanding and following all applicable standard operating procedures as required.
  • Communicating with vendors, responding to inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconciling carrier bills and order supplies for clinics.
  • Assisting with various accounting and administrative duties, including data entry and filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Health & Safety:

  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and follows VP’s policies and procedures
  • Conducts self with regard for the safety of all employees
  • Participates in health and safety training, meetings, and drills as required; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures
  • Reports any health & safety violations or hazards to appropriate contacts (JHSC Representatives, Supervisors, Managers)


Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP):

  • Follows and understands all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices

Skills and knowledge required:

  • Post-secondary diploma, certificate, degree in accounting, or equivalent, would be considered an asset.
  • 1+ years’ experience in Accounts Payable or equivalent.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable would be considered an asset
  • Basic accounting knowledge and financial reporting practices.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)


Schedule and Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm


Location

This is an in-person role, located at our head office in St. Marys, ON.


Compensation

$43,750.00-$62,500.00
