Schedule Monday thru Friday, 8a-5p
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), or Activity Director Certification required to meet CMS requirements

Somerfield Health Center at The Heritage at Brentwood is currently seeking a full-time Activities Director/Recreational Therapist to provide overall development and implementation of a varied activity and recreational program that meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of health center residents. Somerfield at The Heritage is a 5-star, 66-bed skilled nursing facility and 11-bed assisted living facility on the beautiful campus of The Heritage at Brentwood in TN. Job Responsibilities
- As the Activities Director, coordinates and provides recreation activities that may include, but are not limited to, reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, re-motivation therapy, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outings, special events and one-on-one visitation
- Reviews residents’ activity needs and plans total recreation program based on individual needs and resident interest
- Supervises 5-6 activity partners/therapeutic recreation assistants on the health center activity team
- Coordinates Resident Council and family meetings to address special interests and provide educational opportunities
- Provides and maintains pertinent medical records, reports, studies, and schedules in accordance with state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facility
- Responsible for budget preparation and inventory, supplies and equipment
- Responsible for networking, selection, and contract negotiations for outside providers
- Coordinates activities with other departments as needed
Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist, certified activities director, occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in social or recreational program in licensed health care setting within last five years with at least 1 years’ experience in long-term care setting preferred
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred; Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Activity Director Certification required
- Expertise in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel), online graphics, and electronic medical records preferred
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills
- Able to interact and engage with geriatric population
- Strong creativity and organization skills
- Able to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
- Able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
- Able to maintain professionalism and work well with others
