POSITION SUMMARY

The Adjunct Faculty - General Education teaches COM160 – Communication, ENG163 or English Composition, or HUM164 – Humanities/Ethics in support of general education requirements for students enrolled in the Surgical Technology program. The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, supporting student learning, and ensuring course content aligns with institutional and accreditation standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach assigned courses in Communication, English Composition, and Humanities following approved course outlines, objectives, and learning outcomes.
  • Provide engaging, student-centered instruction through lectures, discussions, activities, and assessments.
  • Use varied teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles, including technology-enhanced instruction.
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi, assignments, and materials in accordance with institutional requirements.
  • Assess student performance fairly and consistently; provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate grade records and submit required reports by established deadlines.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, critical thinking, and academic success.
  • Hold office hours or provide student support as required.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and training sessions as needed.
  • Uphold academic integrity and enforce all academic and classroom policies.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience teaching in an education setting.
  • Experience teaching remote online courses.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle. etc.).
  • Background in interdisciplinary instruction or integrated learning approaches.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, rigorous instruction.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student learning, equity, and academic excellence.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and academic leadership.
