New River Community and Technical College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Faculty member in Phlebotomy to help prepare students for entry-level careers in the healthcare field. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of phlebotomists.


Position Overview

The Adjunct Faculty member will provide didactic and hands-on laboratory instruction in Principles of Phlebotomy. Courses are delivered at the Greenbrier Valley and Nicholas County Campus and may include in-person, online, Zoom, or Interactive



Adjunct faculty play a vital role as educators, mentors, and collaborators, contributing to student success and workforce readiness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction in phlebotomy
  • Teach venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques effectively
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth
  • Coordinate clinical rotations with program leadership and healthcare partners
  • Ensure compliance with college policies and safety standards
  • Utilize technology to support in-person and virtual learning environments
  • Maintain regular communication with students and faculty
  • Participate in department meetings and required college activities
  • Complete course assessments and reporting requirements on time


What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Current national certification in one of the following:
    • Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Science/Technology
    • Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN
  • Associate’s degree (or higher) in an allied health or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience with Zoom, IVN, or online instruction
  • Familiarity with instructional technology (e.g., Microsoft Word, learning platforms)
  • Experience with dual enrollment programs
