NatCarbon Africa seeks a fixed term Administrative & Finance Support Officer in the Business Support Department for the large-scale Spekboom Restoration Project in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa.

With our partner, Imperative Global, our aim is to restore up to 100,000 hectares of degraded subtropical thicket biome. The Project entails planting Spekboom (Portulacaria afra) on privately owned land to improve ecosystem functioning and agricultural productivity over time, promote biodiversity, improve soil filtration, enhance water storage capabilities, and to reduce soil erosion. The Project is estimated to permanently store large quantities of Carbon Dioxide over the Project life, thus positively contributing towards climate change mitigation.

Position Summary:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and reconcile weekly fuel usage on company accounts against actual fuel slips and supporting documentation.
  • Process supplier and operational invoices accurately through finance software system.
  • Reconcile company expenses and ensure all supporting documentation is submitted, recorded and processed.
  • Maintain and update weekly truck logbooks and track fuel consumption. Reconcile records with monthly fuel statements.
  • Generate and prepare weekly payment lists for review and processing.
  • Process vendor invoice matching on finance software system to ensure accurate allocation and reconciliation of invoices.
  • Manage and execute various ad hoc administrative and financial tasks, including insurance claims, account applications, and related operational support functions.
  • Maintain accurate filing and recordkeeping of finance and administrative documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers, service providers, and internal team members regarding outstanding documentation and account queries.
  • Other related tasks as required by direct report.

Skills:

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel) and financial reporting and administration systems (XERO, Hubdoc, 4CastPlus)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organisational and good oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 5
  • At least three years’ experience in a relevant field



Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping, finance administration, or office administration is required.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel within the Eastern and Western Cape anticipated, including to remote locations.
  • Travel may on occasion cross weekends and holidays to accommodate schedules.
