After Care Worker

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking a qualified candidate for the After School Care Program. The After School Care Worker position is part-time and is responsible for the supervision of students in the program. This position will supervise all activities that take place as part of the program and ensure the safety of each child attending the school’s extended care program.

Ministerial Character:

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Responsibilities:

  • As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life

  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church

  • Continuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and the Diocese of Corpus Christi
  • Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization
  • As needed, differentiate lessons and activities so they are appropriate for students of various ages and with various abilities, and participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events
  • Prepare and gather materials and supplies prior to programs daily
  • Assist and supervise children during all activities following child care guidelines in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children primary focus
  • Assist children with meal/snack time
  • Follow appropriate cleaning and sanitizing procedures to clean-up site when children depart; inspect and return supplies to appropriate place
  • Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness and safe environment are appropriately maintained
  • Assist in enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents assigned by site coordinator
  • Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant and foster positive connections between participants
  • Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child and the group
  • Communicate appropriate information to parents and interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, school staff, community members and partners
  • Effectively manage assigned group; maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy; and report observations and incidents to site coordinator or school principal
  • Performs other duties as assigned
