Agile Scrum Lead
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is a 6-month contract where you’ll step in quickly to support Agile squads working on customer-focused initiatives in our Retail environment.
You’ll play a key role in keeping delivery moving, building capability, and creating the conditions for teams to do their best work, particularly in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
In this role, you will:
- Work alongside Product Owners, delivery leads, and stakeholders to keep squads aligned and progressing toward shared outcomes.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies that bring clarity, rhythm, and focus to team delivery
- Coach squads and Product Owners to build confidence in Agile ways of working and strengthen overall team effectiveness.
- Support backlog refinement, prioritisation, and planning to ensure work is clear and ready to progress.
- Remove blockers and navigate constraints to keep delivery moving, even when priorities shift.
- Build strong relationships across business and technology teams to maintain alignment and transparency
- Champion continuous improvement, helping teams reflect, learn, and evolve how they work..

You’re someone who brings calm, structure, and momentum into busy delivery environments, and you know how to support people as well as process.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in a Scrum Lead or similar Agile role, with the credibility to step in and contribute quickly.
- Confidence facilitating Agile ceremonies and working with multiple stakeholders across squads.
- A natural coaching style, you enjoy building capability and supporting others to succeed.
- Strong relationship skills, with the ability to influence, align, and communicate clearly at all levels.
- Experience working with technology delivery teams and digital initiatives
- Comfort working in environments with competing priorities, evolving plans, and some ambiguity.
- A practical mindset and the ability to balance optimism and realism when navigating constraints and trade-offs.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, or similar Agile toolsets.
Most importantly, you bring a people-first approach and are someone who understands that strong teams deliver strong outcomes.
Additional Information
This is a 6-month contract opportunity based in Auckland, Wellington, or Tauranga, with an expectation of working flexibly from one of our main hubs to enable in-person collaboration.
We support flexible working where it works for the individual, the team and the business. Our main hubs are in Wellington, Auckland and Tauranga, and this role is best suited to someone who can work flexibly from one of these locations to enable strong in person connection and collaboration. While we do have smaller sites across other centres of Aotearoa, proximity to a main hub is important for this role.
