AI Agent Development Engineer

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

In this role, you will help shape the future of intelligent engineering and power plant operations by developing hands-on AI/ML and agent-based solutions that simplify engineering work, increase productivity, and unlock new operational capabilities.

You will build intelligent tools and AI agents that automate control logic generation, graphics configuration, reporting, and engineering workflows, enabling plant engineers to focus on higher-value innovation. By analyzing control system and operational data, you will uncover patterns, develop predictive capabilities, and deliver data-driven decision support for real-world power plant environments.

  • Apply AI-based anomaly detection, diagnostics, and decision-support solutions to real power-plant operational challenges.

  • Translate plant operating behavior, control logic, alarms, and historian trends into practical AI use cases and agent workflows.

  • Work with time-series operational data from DCS/SCADA and plant historians (preferably Emerson Ovation) to identify abnormal patterns, degradation, and performance losses.

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing, and reliability teams to validate AI insights against real plant conditions.

  • Support development and tuning of AI/analytics models using Python and data tools (focus on application rather than algorithm research).

  • Integrate AI outputs into dashboards, alerts, and engineering workflows without impacting plant safety or control integrity.

  • Test, validate, and monitor AI solutions in live or near-real plant environments, ensuring reliability and low false-alarm rates.

  • Continuously improve AI performance using operational feedback, historical fault data, and domain knowledge.

  • Troubleshoot deployed analytics/AI tools and coordinate improvements with software or data teams.

Who you Are:

We are looking for a proactive professional who excels in dynamic, fast-paced environments. You demonstrate exceptional initiative, confidently tackling complex challenges in power plant control and optimization. With a strong commitment to innovation and excellence, you set ambitious goals and uphold the highest standards in every project.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Control Systems, Power Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2–8 years of experience in coal-fired, combined-cycle, or utility power plants with strong knowledge of plant operations, control processes, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with DCS platforms, preferably Emerson Ovation, including control logic, alarm management, plant monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of power plant systems such as boilers, turbines, generators, combustion controls, and balance-of-plant operations.
  • Experience developing AI-powered applications using Python, including data processing, API integration, and workflow automation.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI Agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar.
  • Ability to translate power plant operational knowledge and procedures into AI Agent use cases and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, engineering, and software development teams.

Preferred Qualifications That Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS or other power plant control systems (ABB, Honeywell, Siemens, GE, Yokogawa).
  • Hands-on experience developing AI Agents, operator assistants, troubleshooting tools, or knowledge management solutions for industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and time-series analytics.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, cloud AI platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and industrial data integration.
  • Passion for applying AI and automation technologies to improve power plant operations, reliability, and performance.
