As an AML & Financial Crime Escalations Specialist in our KYC team, you lead critical reviews of escalated customer relationships and help us make clear, risk-based decisions that meet regulatory expectations. You analyze complex information from multiple sources, document outcomes with strong narratives, and bring stakeholders together to drive cases to resolution within service level agreements. You help us continuously improve our processes, quality, and ways of working as we grow our digital consumer banking business in Germany.

Job responsibilities:

  • Analyze escalations related to financial crime and review customer relationships to determine appropriate next steps
  • Assess information from internal and external sources and recommend clear outcomes to the Team Lead
  • Summarize case findings in concise, well-structured written narratives for senior audiences
  • Prepare forum materials and presentations for Line of Business Financial Crime forums
  • Manage the end-to-end relationship review journey to ensure adherence to service level agreements
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain missing information and resolve gaps in escalation submissions
  • Partner with first and second line teams (for example, Financial Crime Operations, Sanctions Compliance, and investigations teams) to align on case direction
  • Escalate appropriately when risks cannot be cleared and require senior review and decisioning
  • Support change initiatives by proposing and sharing process improvements and best practices
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and calibration sessions to strengthen consistency and quality across teams

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Relevant degree (for example in economics, finance, banking, business administration, engineering) or equivalent professional training/experience (including bank apprenticeship)
  • ca. 2 years of experience in audit, compliance, financial crime, anti-money laundering, sanctions, customer due diligence, or related investigative/controlling roles in financial services or fintech
  • Proven ability to perform analytical deep-dives and investigations to reach well-supported outcomes
  • Experience reviewing customer risk profiles, risk indicators, and alerts and assigning risk levels using defined criteria
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage internal stakeholders and support regulatory-ready documentation
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, structured recommendations for decision-makers
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment
  • Growth mindset with commitment to continuous learning and self-development
  • Comfort operating in an ambiguous, evolving environment with changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including creating clear documentation and presentations)
  • Fluent English

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Knowledge of German regulatory expectations and industry best practices for anti-money laundering and customer due diligence
  • Experience with digital retail banking frameworks, products, or operating models
  • Familiarity with customer screening tools and KYC (Know Your Customer) / onboarding platforms, databases, and workflows
  • Understanding of payments and financial technologies within digital banking ecosystems
  • Relevant certifications (for example ACAMS or similar)
  • Fluent German
