Animal Welfare Technical Reviewer & Auditor

Are you an experienced agricultural or food production professional with a strong technical background and confidence working independently in complex environments?

We’re looking for an Animal Welfare Technical Reviewer & Auditor to join our Food Production team, supporting the delivery of a global animal welfare audit programme across a complex international supply chain.

This is a highly varied role combining remote technical review with on-site auditing. You’ll work closely with a major global client on a daily basis, alongside their suppliers and a network of auditors, to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across the programme.

The role involves regular travel across the UK, Europe and internationally, visiting a wide range of agricultural and food production sites, and would suit someone who enjoys working independently, is comfortable in varied environments, and thrives with a high level of responsibility and client interaction.

What We Offer:

  • Remote Working: Remote-based role with blend of home-based technical review, and field-based auditing

  • Training & Development: Ongoing development within auditing, schemes, and technical review processes

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Health cover, death‑in‑service benefit, company sick pay scheme, and income protection

  • Wellbeing Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and an annual paid Mental Wellness Day

  • Volunteering Time: Paid time off to support causes you care about

Including, but not limited to:

  • Carrying out technical reviews in line with scheme standards, client requirements, and defined quality procedures

  • Ensuring timely and accurate completion of reviews in line with agreed KPIs, SLAs, and programme requirements

  • Interpreting non-conformances and audit reports to identify key issues and risks

  • Conducting on-site and remote audits across agricultural and food production environments

  • Supporting auditor development through witness audits, feedback, and guidance

  • Providing ongoing technical guidance and support to auditors, suppliers, and clients, including regular direct interaction with the client

  • Managing supplier queries, follow-ups, and ongoing resolution of audit findings

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the supply chain

  • Working closely with internal teams and external partners to support programme delivery

  • Following all HSSE, biosecurity, and safety requirements, including PPE

  • Working across farms and production environments

  • Experience within agriculture, primary production, or food supply chains, ideally in a technical, audit, or quality-focused role
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare, farming practices, and production processes, including slaughter/processing environments, with the confidence to work in these settings
  • Extensive knowledge of animal welfare standards (UK and global) and key industry issues such as sustainability, authenticity, and environmental impact of farming practices
  • Experience auditing within primary production and/or food production environments
  • Experience working with retailer or scheme standards (or equivalent)
  • HACCP qualification (Level 3 or equivalent minimum)
  • Qualified ISO Lead Assessor (or equivalent recognised Lead Auditor qualification)
  • Ability to interpret audit reports, non-conformances, and complex technical data, applying sound judgement and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple audits, reviews, and priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Experience working with large or high-profile clients and stakeholders
  • A self-motivated and independent approach, with strong organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills across technical and client-facing environments
  • Confidence travelling independently and working across varied locations
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel efficiently to sites that may not be accessible via public transport
