Application Specialist (ICP-MS Analyst)
Position Overview:
The ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) Analyst is responsible for operating and maintaining ICP-MS equipment to conduct analytical testing and ensure the accurate and precise analysis of samples for a variety of applications, including environmental, pharmaceutical, food safety, and industrial sectors. This role involves sample preparation, data analysis, calibration, troubleshooting, and reporting results. The ICP-MS Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality testing and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Method preparation for Semiconductor trace metal analysis to ppb level
- Operate and maintain the ICP-MS instrument, ensuring it is calibrated, cleaned, and functioning properly.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to ensure optimum equipment performance.
- Prepare and calibrate the ICP-MS system for different sample types and analyz results with high precision.
- Prepare a variety of sample matrices (water, soil, air, Chemicals, Metal & alloys etc.) for ICP-MS analysis by proper digestion, dilution, or other pre-treatment techniques.
- Perform multi-element analysis and determine concentrations of metals and other elements in complex samples.
- Analyze results using ICP-MS data analysis software, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Interpret analytical data and prepare detailed reports, ensuring clear presentation of results, deviations, and conclusions.
- Ensure proper documentation of all analyses in compliance with quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of analytical results.
- Implement and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample handling, analysis, and reporting.
- Identify and resolve any anomalies in data or equipment performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues, scientists, and other departments to discuss results and support research, product development, and quality assurance efforts.
- Suggest improvements to laboratory processes, equipment, and techniques to increase efficiency, productivity, and data quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in ICP-MS analysis or a related analytical laboratory setting.
- Experience in sample preparation, method development, and calibration for ICP-MS is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and data management systems.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ICP-MS theory, techniques, and applications.
- Proficiency in the use of laboratory software for data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- Familiarity with laboratory instruments, safety protocols, and analytical equipment.
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and regulatory guidelines (e.g., EPA, FDA, SEMI).
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining ICP-MS instrumentation.
