The business supplies fresh Christmas trees\ndirectly from the farm, as well as pre\-cut Christmas trees, and provides\nservices including netting, delivery, installation in Cinco Christmas tree\nstands, collection, and recycling.

The Purple Lion Group Pty Ltd operates and manages Christmas\ntree plantations and requires a qualified and experienced Arboriculturist to\nassist with the specialist care, maintenance, assessment, and management of\ntrees across its plantation operations.

About the Role<\/b>
<\/p>

Dural Christmas Tree Farm is seeking a full\-time\nArboriculturist to support the health, safety, presentation, and long\-term\nmanagement of Christmas trees and related tree assets.
<\/p>

Reporting to the Manager, the Arboriculturist will be\nresponsible for assessing tree condition, implementing tree care programs,\npruning and shaping trees, identifying and treating pests and diseases,\nmaintaining plantation growing environments, and advising on appropriate tree\nmanagement practices.
<\/p>

This role is suited to an experienced arboriculture\nprofessional with strong practical knowledge of tree biology, tree health,\npruning techniques, pest and disease control, safe equipment use, and\nplantation\-based tree management.

Key Responsibilities<\/b>
<\/p>

The Arboriculturist will be responsible for:
<\/p>

  • Assessing\n the health, condition, growth, and structural integrity of Christmas trees\n and other trees, including identifying pests, diseases, nutrient\n deficiencies, and environmental stressors.
    <\/li>
  • Pruning,\n trimming, shaping, planting, and maintaining trees to promote healthy\n growth, safety, presentation, and commercial quality.
    <\/li>
  • Implementing\n tree care and treatment programs, including fertilising, watering, weed\n control, pest and disease control, chemical application, and soil or\n plantation maintenance.
    <\/li>
  • Maintaining\n irrigation systems, tree support systems, tools, equipment, and plantation\n areas to ensure effective and safe tree management operations.
    <\/li>
  • Removing,\n managing, recycling, or disposing of dead, diseased, damaged, or\n unsuitable trees in accordance with business and safety requirements.
    <\/li>
  • Supervising\n and training casual staff in safe tree care, planting, pruning,\n maintenance, chemical handling, waste management, and recycling practices.

    Skills and Experience<\/b>
    <\/p>

    To be successful in this role, applicants should have:
    <\/p>

    • Strong\n knowledge of arboriculture, tree biology, tree species, growth patterns,\n and tree\-care requirements.
      <\/li>
    • Practical\n experience in assessing tree health, diagnosing pests and diseases, and\n implementing suitable treatment programs.
      <\/li>
    • Demonstrated\n ability to prune, trim, shape, plant, and maintain trees safely and\n effectively.
      <\/li>
    • Knowledge\n of fertilisation, irrigation, soil management, weed control, and\n plantation maintenance practices.
      <\/li>
    • Understanding\n of chemical handling, safe application of sprays and fertilisers, and\n relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
      <\/li>
    • Ability\n to use arboriculture and horticultural tools and equipment safely,\n including chainsaws, handsaws, pruning equipment, spraying equipment, and\n irrigation tools.
      <\/li>
    • Strong\n risk awareness and ability to identify hazards associated with tree work,\n equipment use, chemicals, and outdoor plantation environments.
      <\/li>
    • Good\n communication skills and the ability to supervise, train, and coordinate\n casual staff.
      <\/li>
    • Strong\n problem\-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions\n regarding tree health, treatment, maintenance, and presentation.
      <\/li>
    • A\n commitment to environmental responsibility, tree preservation principles,\n and sustainable waste and recycling practices.

      Qualifications, Licences and Requirements<\/b>
      <\/p>

      Applicants must have:
      <\/p>

      • A\n relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Horticulture, or a closely\n related field, such as an AQF Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, or\n equivalent; or<\/b>
        <\/li>
      • At\n least 3 years of relevant full\-time experience in arboriculture, tree\n care, horticulture, or a closely related role where formal qualifications\n are not held.
        <\/li>
      • At\n least 2 years of relevant practical experience in tree care, pruning, tree\n maintenance, plantation tree management, or arboriculture.
        <\/li>
      • Knowledge\n of safe chemical handling and willingness to maintain relevant training\n and certifications.
        <\/li>
      • Physical\n fitness and capacity to perform outdoor work, including pruning, planting,\n lifting, operating equipment, and working in varying weather conditions.
        <\/li>
      • Current\n driver\u2019s licence is desirable.
        <\/li>
      • Chainsaw,\n chemical handling, first aid, working at heights, or related safety\n tickets are desirable.
