Architect I - Water

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role Description

Arcadis is seeking an Architect I (Senior Designer) with experience in industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, or complex process facility projects to join our growing Industrial team in Philippines. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to technically demanding, high-impact projects that support critical water infrastructure and sustainable industrial development, with preference for candidates who have worked on U.S. or North American projects.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering global projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on projects that demand technical depth, design quality, and integrated thinking. You will have the opportunity to shape solutions that balance operational performance, constructability, maintainability, and sustainability. As most projects support U.S.-based teams and clients, flexibility to collaborate across U.S. time zones is important, including attendance in occasional meetings scheduled in the evening.

Role Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of industrial water treatment facility projects by producing high-quality architectural outputs that meet project goals, client expectations, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Support the design and documentation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process buildings, chemical dosing areas, pump rooms, control buildings, utility spaces, and associated industrial support environments.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across process, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to develop coordinated, buildable, and technically robust design solutions.
  • Help translate complex operational and technical requirements into practical architectural solutions that support safety, functionality, maintainability, and long-term performance.
  • Take ownership of technical tasks or packages within larger projects, with opportunities to grow your responsibility and influence as part of a globally connected team.
  • Prepare layouts, plans, sections, details, and coordinated BIM models from concept through construction documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and design intent.
  • Contribute to design solutions that consider process flow, equipment access, chemical handling requirements, operability, and health and safety within treatment environments.
  • Support coordination and design management during project delivery, helping to resolve design issues, maintain quality, and respond effectively to review comments.
  • Build your understanding of Arcadis services, industrial water markets, and global delivery practices while collaborating with experienced colleagues across regions.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues from other countries, primarily in North America and Europe. As we adopt a One Team approach, clear and consistent communication is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of industrial water treatment facility project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Architect or on a clear path toward licensure.
  • Around 7+ years of professional experience, ideally with exposure to industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, or other complex process facility projects.
  • Experience supporting U.S. or North American projects is strongly preferred, particularly where familiarity with North American codes, standards, client expectations, and multidisciplinary coordination practices has been developed.
  • Strong Revit/BIM capability and experience producing coordinated architectural deliverables.
  • A solid understanding of technical coordination, building systems integration, and the practical realities of designing complex operational environments.
  • Experience working with international teams or within global delivery models is an advantage, along with flexibility to collaborate across U.S. or North American time zones when required, including occasional evening meetings.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Lumion, or 3ds Max is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and an interest in growing within a specialized industrial architecture environment.
