Area Manager (1601 Travel)

The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for overseeing the merchandising of four or more Home Depot Garden Centers in a District. Responsibilities include merchandising to company standards, implementing store promotions, setting weekly ads, working in conjunction with their District Manager to monitor inventory levels, ensure inventory accuracy, and support the on-boarding and coaching of new-hires while achieving sales objectives within a timely manner. Area Managers are also ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout their Garden Centers. An Area Manager is a role model and leader. They must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage their workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Travels between stores Christiana, Claymont, Glasgow, New Castle, Newark, Wilmington
  • Assist the District Manager and HR Generalist as needed in the recruitment and hiring exceptional talent to meet staffing needs.
  • Train and coach staff in the execution of daily tasks and best practices.
  • Ensure required training is completed by store staff.
  • Assist the DM in scheduling of employees within given operating budgets.
  • Ensure ongoing work objectives are met through efficient management of time and resources.
  • Provide constructive suggestions, encouragement, honest feedback and expectations to staff.
  • Manage issues relating to Garden Center maintenance and safety. Role model Bell safety practices and procedures and, ensure incident / accident reporting and policy compliance.
  • Ensure the correct interpretation, communication and implementation of Bells Plan-O-Gram program as directed by leadership.
  • Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between Bell Nursery, our client and, vendor partners.
  • Ensure staff compliance of established Company policies and standards.
  • Proactively help identify and solve problems that affect the Garden Centers efficiency, productivity and overall service.
  • Support store personnel and assume other activities as needed.
  • Any other tasks as directed by the leadership.
