Area Manager-Health & Safety
Provide strategic proactive leadership for the Safety program across Penske Logistics. Partner with Area VP, Regional, and Corporate Leadership, as well as cross-functional teams, to embed Health & Safety principles into all organizational strategies, operational activities, and key decision-making processes. Drive the development and execution of Health & Safety policies, procedures, best practices, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

Lead the development and implementation of safety strategies, training programs, and performance goals focused on incident and injury prevention, policy and procedure compliance, and adherence to agency regulations.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, with emphasis on both leading and trailing indicators, to evaluate the effectiveness of performance improvement efforts.
- Communicate performance status to Operations Leadership and provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Manage, train, and develop Health and Safety Managers and Safety Team Leads, while mentoring Operations Leadership to foster and strengthen Penske's culture of safety.
- Provide regulatory interpretations, updates, and safety management support to Health and Safety Managers and Operations Leadership.
- Oversee the design and delivery of effective safety training programs across Warehousing and Transportation operations.

Support additional projects and initiatives assigned by the VP of Safety, Director of Safety, and Senior Operations Leadership.
- Bachelor’s Degree – Preferably in safety, risk management, or related degree
7-10 years of safety-related experience in transportation and maintenance warehouse facilities including 3 years management/supervisory experience.
Proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
DOT, OSHA, MCSA / Safety Certifications or CSP and/or general industry safety management experience.
Knowledge of concepts, practices, and industry trends related to safety management and prevention methods.
Ability to analyze risks and effectively associate these with risk management alternatives.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communication forms.
Ability to build teams and establish and maintain effective collaborative working partnerships with management, coworkers and site leaders.
Ability to plan, assign, and direct work to subordinates and vendors.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and plan resources to meet goals.
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Comprehensive knowledge of basic safety management techniques
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the position.
Flexibility regarding travel - average 3 nights away per week - includes some weekends and willingness to travel as the demands of the business.
