Assembly Process Engineer

Job Description:

· Develop, validate, and optimize processes for fiber optic termination andpolishing to achieve manufacturable, consistent, high-quality, and high-yieldproduction.

· Select, evaluate, and qualify materials, tools, and equipment for fiberpreparation, cleaving, termination, and polishing.

· Establish process parameters, work instructions, and standard operatingprocedures (SOPs) for all fiber handling and finishing activities.

· Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues, and implement correctiveactions to address yield or quality concerns.

· Conduct root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects toenhance process capability, reduce defects, and improve throughput.

· Train production technicians and operators on fiber termination andpolishing best practices, ensuring adherence to cleanliness and qualitystandards.

· Collaborate with design engineering, quality, and production teams tosupport new product introduction (NPI) and scale-up activities.

· Perform process validation, capability studies, and statistical analysisto monitor and control process performance.

· Lead process development activities, participate in design reviews, andprovide technical guidance to project teams.

· Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards andcompany quality management systems.

Job Requirements:

· Master’s Degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, or PrecisionEngineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s Degreewith a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

· Technical expertise in fiber optic termination, polishing, andinspection.

· Proven track record in new product introduction (NPI), Design forManufacturability (DFM), and process development.

· Hands-on experience with automated test systems, tooling design, andequipment commissioning.

· Background in conducting risk assessments (health, safety, technical, andprocess-related) and implementing process controls.

· Experience in implementing process controls, supporting techniciantraining, and resolving technical issues using structured methodologies such asSPC, 8D, and DOE.

· Hands-on involvement in process improvement projects, including yieldimprovement, cycle time reduction, and waste reduction initiatives.

· Experience in industries such as photonics, optics, electronics,precision manufacturing, or related high-tech sectors, preferably in opticalprocess development.

· Customer-facing experience in supporting technical inquiries and resourceplanning.

· Experience with documentation and compliance requirements, including SOPsand quality management systems (e.g., AS9100).

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

· Adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset.

· Proficiency in statistical and analytical tools for process monitoringand improvement.

· Proficiency in risk assessment, root cause corrective action (RCCA), 8Dproblem-solving, and Design of Experiments (DOE).

· Knowledge and experience in laser assembly will be an advantage.

· Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

· Familiarity with optical measurement systems and quality improvementmethodologies.

· Exposure to ERP systems, preferably SAP.
