Job Description:

The Department of Accounting & Legal Studies at Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, Salisbury Maryland, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor level to start Fall 2027. Job Summary
Teaching at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate level. Teaching financial accounting through the advanced level and at least one secondary area with a strong preference given to candidates qualified to teach fraud and forensic accounting, cost accounting, graduate managerial accounting, and/or other upper-level accounting courses. Candidates who hold a JD degree and are qualified to teach business law courses are especially encouraged to apply, as the ability to teach in both the accounting and legal studies areas of our curriculum is a significant advantage. The integration of AI tools into the classroom is crucial. The normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester, but a six-credit hour per semester teaching load will be granted for the first academic year. Publishing scholarly research, and providing service to the department, school, and university are also requirements of the position. Utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners.

Minimum Qualifications

Assistant Professor – 1) Ph.D./DBA degree or ABD in Accounting, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before date of hire; 2) Potential or demonstrated ability to be an excellent teacher; 3) Potential or demonstrated ability to publish a steady stream of peer-reviewed scholarly research; 4) Interest in teaching in a hybrid or online format; and 5) Professional certification or commitment to attain certification within two years of starting date of employment. Associate Professor – 1) Ph.D./DBA in Accounting, preferably from and AACSB accredited institution; 2) Documented record of teaching excellence; 3) Demonstrated ability to publish an ongoing stream of publications in high-quality peer-reviewed outlets (no fewer than 3 in the most recent five-year period); 4) Documented record of service to the department, institution, and profession; 5) Interest in teaching in a hybrid or online format; and, 6) Professional certification or commitment to attain certification within two years of starting date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will already have experience using AI in the classroom, an emerging portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in academic journals, at least one professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, etc.), and ideally a JD degree with the ability to teach undergraduate business law courses.

Starting salary is $165,000-$190,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be contingent upon verification of eligibility to work in the U.S. and is expected to begin August 2027.
