The University of Wisconsin’s Cross Country/Track & Field Program is a combined men’s and women’s program. Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in coaching student-athletes across track & field disciplines in accordance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Assisting with coaching student-athletes for the track and field / cross country program as assigned by the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
- Planning and leading practice sessions for assigned event groups
- Developing and implementing event-specific training and conditioning plans
- Supporting the development of student-athlete skills to maximize performance
- Assisting with recruiting prospective student-athletes across track & field disciplines
Other areas of responsibility may include:
- Working directly with the program specialist for team travel arrangements including: Hotels, transportation, bus travel, van rental, per diem, and entry fees
- Collaborating with the in-house travel agent for team air travel
- Procuring travel advancements and reconciling travel expense reimbursements
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country

Compensation:
The starting salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of successful coaching experience
- Preferably at the Division I collegiate level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to foster team competitive success while maintaining a strong emphasis on the personal development and academic achievement of student-athletes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively work with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
- Knowledge of and experience with NCAA and Big Ten rules
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Limited Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
