ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Role Overview

As Assistant Director, you will take ownership and lead the delivery of projects from inception through completion, ensuring that outcomes meet client expectations and quality standards. The role also involves team leadership and development, as well as contributing to business growth and operational excellence.

We are looking for someone who brings

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying or cost consultancy within Singapore or the region
  • Strong technical capability across pre- and post-contract services
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and developing team members
  • A collaborative, commercially minded approach suited to a professional consultancy practice

Responsibilities:

1. Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead multiple projects from inception to completion across various industries
  • Oversee feasibility studies, cost planning, procurement strategies, and post-contract services
  • Prepare and review detailed cost estimates and cost plans
  • Lead the whole tender process involving tender evaluation, pricing analysis, benchmarking, and recommendation reports
  • Provide contract administration and commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee change management, variation assessments, progress claims, and final accounts.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained and manage contractual and commercial risks

2. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop team of quantity surveyors, providing structured guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture that supports continuous learning and growth
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, cost data development, and best practice standards
  • Encourage critical thinking and value-driven problem solving in project delivery
  • Manage workload allocation, resourcing, performance, and professional development in line with project and business needs

3. Client Engagement & Management

  • Support business development efforts by identifying, pursuing, and securing new project opportunities
  • Build and manage a sustainable pipeline of work
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, with a focus on repeat business and long-term partnerships
  • Support the firm’s market presence through client engagement and selected industry involvement

Requirements:

  • Possess recognized Degree in Quantity Surveying/Building or equivalent
  • Accredited Professional Quantity Surveyor and/or SISV membership
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience, preferably in consultancy firms with Associate/Senior QS level experience
  • Reliable with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good technical and contractual knowledge with high integrity and work ethic
  • An independent and effective team player, collaborating on multi-projects of various stages, ensuring deliverables within set time & expectations.
