THE COMPANY:
Unison acquires real estate assets in the United States and Europe in the telecommunications and renewable energy sectors. Backed by a global investment firm with over $125B in assets under management, Unison is growing rapidly across its existing business lines while expanding into new markets. The role is based in Germany, supporting operations across European markets.

THE TEAM:
The Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms and Renewables (EU), based in Germany, will play a key role in:

  1. Managing the acquisition of telecom infrastructure assets such as cell towers across EU markets, leading transactions in multiple countries and supporting expansion into new jurisdictions.
  2. Expanding Unison’s renewable energy business in Europe by working with landowners and developers.

This is a hands-on role requiring an experienced lawyer with a strong track record in driving transactions to closing, supporting complex negotiations, and managing portfolio risk. You will work closely with senior management, origination, pricing, and property management teams. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a specialization in renewables.

THE ROLE:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Telecommunications

  • Support the Regional General Counsel – Europe
  • Report internally in coordination with the EU GC
  • Manage transactions end-to-end with internal and external counsel
  • Liaise with brokers and site owners
  • Coordinate closings with advisors (lawyers, notaries, banks, fund managers)
  • Perform legal and property due diligence (leases, title review)
  • Track and manage deals using internal systems
  • Support expansion into new jurisdictions
  • Provide basic property tax guidance
  • Prepare pre-close and closing documentation and finance reviews
  • Train origination teams on real estate matters
  • Draft contracts and notarial documents
  • Oversee full closing execution
  • Manage payment processes at closing
  • Lead regular legal coordination meetings

Renewable Energy

  • Manage a pipeline of lease acquisitions and coordinate cross-functional closing efforts
  • Oversee work of in-house legal teams and prepare underwriting analysis
  • Structure and support negotiations with renewable developers (sale-leaseback, land financing)
  • Support development of new ground lease products
  • Assist with market entry (entity setup, compliance, KYC, structuring)
  • Advise on commercial and corporate legal matters

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of legal experience in a law firm and/or renewable energy environment
  • Strong experience in renewable energy and real estate transactions
  • Proficient in Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, Salesforce

DAS TEAM:
Der/Die Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms and Renewables (EU) mit Sitz in Deutschland spielt eine zentrale Rolle bei:

  1. Der Steuerung von Akquisitionen von Telekommunikationsinfrastruktur (z. B. Mobilfunkmasten) in europäischen Märkten sowie der Leitung von Transaktionen in mehreren Ländern und der Unterstützung der Expansion in neue Märkte.
  2. Dem Ausbau des Geschäfts im Bereich erneuerbare Energien in Europa durch Zusammenarbeit mit Grundstückseigentümern und Projektentwicklern.

Dies ist eine operative Rolle für eine erfahrene Juristin bzw. einen erfahrenen Juristen mit nachgewiesener Erfahrung im erfolgreichen Abschluss von Transaktionen, in der Verhandlungsführung und im Management von Portfoliorisiken. Sie arbeiten eng mit dem Senior Management sowie mit den Teams aus Origination, Pricing und Property Management zusammen. Perspektivisch wird eine Spezialisierung im Bereich erneuerbare Energien erwartet.

DIE POSITION:
Zu den Aufgaben gehören unter anderem:

Telekommunikation

  • Unterstützung des Regional General Counsel – Europe
  • Interne Berichterstattung in Zusammenarbeit mit dem EU GC
  • Steuerung von Transaktionen End-to-End mit internen und externen Rechtsberatern
  • Abstimmung mit Maklern und Grundstückseigentümern
  • Koordination von Closings mit externen Beratern (Anwälte, Notare, Banken, Fondsmanager)
  • Durchführung rechtlicher und immobilienbezogener Due Diligence (Mietverträge, Eigentumsverhältnisse)
  • Verwaltung und Nachverfolgung von Deals über interne Systeme
  • Unterstützung bei der Expansion in neue Rechtsräume
  • Grundlegende Beratung zu Grundsteuerthemen
  • Erstellung von Pre-Closing-Berichten, Closing-Dokumentation und Finanzprüfungen
  • Schulung der Origination-Teams in immobilienrechtlichen Themen
  • Erstellung von Verträgen und notariellen Urkunden
  • Überwachung des gesamten Closing-Prozesses
  • Steuerung der Zahlungsprozesse bei Closings
  • Durchführung regelmäßiger Legal-Meetings

Erneuerbare Energien

  • Steuerung einer Pipeline von Pacht-/Lease-Akquisitionen und Koordination des Closings mit relevanten Teams
  • Überwachung der Arbeit interner Juristen und Erstellung von Entscheidungsgrundlagen für das Management
  • Strukturierung und Unterstützung von Verhandlungen mit Projektentwicklern (Sale-Leaseback, Flächenfinanzierung)
  • Mitwirkung bei der Entwicklung neuer Produkte auf Basis von Ground-Leases
  • Unterstützung beim Eintritt in neue Märkte (Gesellschaftsgründung, Compliance, KYC, Strukturierung)
  • Rechtliche Beratung bei kommerziellen und gesellschaftsrechtlichen Themen

ANFORDERUNGEN:

  • Mindestens 10 Jahre Berufserfahrung als Jurist/in in einer Kanzlei und/oder im Bereich erneuerbare Energien
  • Fundierte Erfahrung im Immobilienrecht und im Bereich Renewables
  • Sehr gute Kenntnisse in Office 365, Teams, SharePoint und Salesforce
