Assistant Project Engineer — Industrial Ventilation & Dust Collection Systems (Mechanical / HVAC, AutoCAD required)

About Us

Mitra Engineering Services is a 30-year-old Singapore turnkey contractor for industrial air filtration — dust collectors, fume extractors, oil mist collectors, paint booths, explosion protection, and centralised vacuum systems. We are the authorised Singapore partner of Donaldson, one of the world's leading filtration brands.

We don't sell off-the-shelf but instead, design, fabricate, install and service for years afterward. Our customers are primarily in the aerospace, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, F&B, oil & gas, and metalworking sectors.

What this role is

This is a hands-on Assistant Project Engineer role under our Senior Project Engineer, designed for someone early in their career who wants to grow into a full Project Engineer within 18 to 24 months. You will support projects across the full lifecycle, from customer enquiry, through engineering design and fabrication coordination, to site installation and commissioning. Roughly 70% office work (AutoCAD, calculations, proposals) and 30% site work (factory walkthroughs, installation supervision, troubleshooting). If you're looking for a pure-CAD office role, this is not it.

What you will do

Produce AutoCAD drawings for dust collection, ventilation, and fume extraction systems (equipment layout, ducting, hood design, filter sizing)

Assist customer site assessments alongside the Senior Project Engineer. Walk operating factories in PPE, take measurements, note constraints

Learn to size equipment using ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Manual, NFPA standards, SS 658, SS 667

Help prepare technical proposals, BOMs, and quotations

Coordinate with our in-house workshop on fabrication and with subcontractors on installation, initially under Senior PE supervision

Support installation, commissioning, and air balancing on customer sites

Progressively take on more independent project ownership as you build experience

What we are looking for

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services, or HVAC/ACMV — pure electrical, electronics, software, or industrial design backgrounds will not fit this role

0 to 3 years of experience. Fresh graduates with relevant internships are welcomed, as are early-career engineers from MEP contractors, HVAC firms, or cleanroom builders looking to specialise in industrial filtration

AutoCAD daily-user proficiency — you will be asked to demonstrate this live at interview, not just talk about it

Basic AutoCAD proficiency from coursework, internship, or prior work. You will be asked to demonstrate this at interview, not just talk about it

Comfortable on industrial sites in PPE (semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, metal fabrication shops, food factories). This part of the job is not optional

Curious, hands-on, willing to learn from senior engineers and from real projects

Detail-oriented and reliable. Engineering drawings get built on a factory floor, so small errors become expensive

Strong Advantages

Final year project or internship related to HVAC, ventilation, ducting, dust collection, or industrial process equipment

Familiarity with Donaldson, Camfil, Nederman, Filtermist, Plymovent, or similar industrial filtration brands

Exposure to NFPA 484/660/68/69, ATEX, or SS 667 (combustible dust)

Experience reading P&IDs, isometric piping, or electrical schematics

Hands-on workshop or installation work during studies (sheet metal fabrication, ducting, mechanical assembly)

What we offer

Basic salary $3,000 – $4,500 plus transport and phone allowance

Real ownership of projects, not just drafting support

Stable, established company with a strong recurring customer base

Clear growth path as you take on more project responsibility
