Assistant Research Officer (Analytical Team)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Research Officer to join the Analytical R&D team. The successful candidate will support cutting-edge research in analytical and food chemistry, contributing to projects involving method development using advanced instrumentation and data-driven approaches (e.g., chemometrics and AI/image recognition).

This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art analytical technologies (e.g., GC×GC-TOFMS/FID) and work on projects with direct industrial and global impact.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods using techniques such as GC, GC×GC-TOFMS/FID, HPLC, and LC-MS.
  • Execute laboratory experiments in accordance with SOPs, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Apply and support chemometric analysis, image recognition, and AI-based approaches for data interpretation and model development.
  • Assist in method transfer to overseas factories, ensuring robustness, reproducibility, and ease of implementation.
  • Support scale-up trials and on-site implementation of analytical methods in manufacturing environments.
  • Work closely with project leads, cross-functional teams, and business units to meet project milestones.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to internal stakeholders and factory teams in different regions
  • Conduct literature reviews and data analysis to support ongoing research projects.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support laboratory operations by maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health and safety compliance, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Provide administrative support for laboratory operations, including inventory management, stock monitoring, and procurement of laboratory supplies.

Job Requirements

  • BSc degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Motivated to work on interdisciplinary projects in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
  • Prior laboratory experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of and experience in chemometrics, operation of HPLC, GC, GCxGC, LCMS, RVA and texture analyzer will be added advantage.
