Assistant Site Manager

CHAP Group Limited are seeking an Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of site operations and supervision of personnel.


Main tasks:

  • Support the Site Manager in delivering projects safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Assist in ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards and site regulations.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and the wider project team to ensure drawings and information are available and followed correctly.
  • Supervise subcontractors and site operatives, allocating daily tasks and monitoring productivity.
  • Monitor the quality of work on site, record QA using Procore, and manage any remedial works with subcontractors.
  • Assist in short-term planning and ensure subcontractors are working to programme deadlines.
  • Check that materials are ordered, delivered on time, and stored correctly; support material take-offs where required.
  • Help compile and manage snagging lists, ensuring issues are resolved prior to project completion.
  • Review and manage dayworks and site records, challenging any discrepancies where necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of site costs and subcontractor scopes to support budget control.
  • Ensure all site documentation is kept up to date, including diaries, QA records, H&S documentation, and timesheets.
  • Support compliance with company procedures and industry standards (SMSTS, ISO, and H&S management systems).


Qualifications & Competencies

Essential

  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good understanding of construction processes on multi-disciplinary building projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Reliable and proactive approach to work.
  • IT literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office



Desirable

  • SMSTS (or willingness to achieve).
  • Degree or HND in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 4 in Construction Management (or working towards).
  • Trade background or construction-related apprenticeship.
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
  • Previous site supervision or management experience.
  • Ability to manage on-site challenges and problem-solve effectively.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of construction best practice.
  • Motivated, driven, and keen to progress within the industry



This role is expected to commence in July/August 2026.
