The Academy of Visual Arts is the first-of-its-kind local institution in delivering Visual Arts education, which is looking for responsible and energetic team player to join the technical team. The appointee is expected to provide support to both teaching of courses and administrative duties of studios, and will be stationed at the Kai Tak Campus.
Responsibilities:
- Provide service in various workshops and studios in the Academy;
- Responsible for preparation and demonstration in studio art classes and provide technical support to teaching staff;
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation, material and equipment procurement and maintenance of studios;
- Provide assistance to students on the use of the lab/studio and equipment;
- Ensure a safe studio environment; and
- Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree preferably in visual arts or related disciplines;
- Good experience and knowledge in studio/workshop work and operation of studio equipment in the respective areas, inclusive but not limited to sculpture, printmaking, prototyping, metal working, 3D printing, jewelry, etc.;
- Proficiency in software such as Grasshopper, Blender, Fusion360, Rhino, and Cura is a plus;
- Solid command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
- Self-motivated and be able to work independently;
- Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be a good team player; and
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract up to two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
