Assistant Tennis Professional and Pro Shop Attendant

Stratton Mountain Resort- Southampton, located in Stratton Mountain, VT, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for an Assistant Tennis Professional and Pro Shop Attendant! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast‑paced hospitality-focused property organization. Looking for those that wish to join a fun club environment this summer by working the pro shop front desk, assisting with member requests and also providing part time on court assistance. Applicant should have a sound tennis understanding and be able to communicate on court but would be required to work alongside the Directors to assist with member bookings.

Assistant Tennis Professional:

Essential Duties:

  • Assists in supervising play and ensures proper charging of fees, and rental of equipment.
  • Initiates, promotes, and conducts tennis clinics, special events and programs in an effort to attract and maintain members’ tennis interests.
  • Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
  • Properly represents the club in state or national events as time permits.
  • Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
  • Ensures proper usage and rental of the tennis ball machine.
  • Performs racquet stringing.
  • Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order. Reports any maintenance problems to the Department Manager or Maintenance Manager.
  • Monitors court usage including special events, clinics and lessons.
  • Assists the department manager in interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work. Make recommendations when hiring, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates. Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Assists in the coordination of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Tennis Instructors.
  • Assists manager in communicating any changes or new policies and procedures to the department.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, talks, hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise:

  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:

CPR, First Aid Certification, Teaching Certification (Tennis)

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Possess U.S.T.A. rating of 5.0 or better.

Pay: $35.00 per hour

Pro Shop Attendant:

Essential Duties:

  • Establishes soft goods merchandising plans, implements action steps and adjusts plan based on progress towards goals.
  • Maintains effective stock levels and ensures stock presentations are appropriate for all seasons.
  • Sells and maintains tennis shop merchandise while providing member and guest service.
  • Places special orders upon member request.
  • Works with Area Retail Manager on “open to buy” and buying strategies.
  • Receives merchandise, prices merchandise, enters into POS system, and monitors inventory levels.
  • Presents merchandise in attractive displays and rotate keeping a fresh look to Tennis shop.
  • Works closely with the accounting office on accounts receivable and accounts payable issues. Ensures available discounts are utilized.
  • Creates weekly displays showcasing new and unique products.
  • Ensures stockrooms are kept organized so that items are easy to locate.
  • Ensures replacement and return policies are adhered to.
  • Ensures follow-up on past due orders and that canceled orders are communicated timely.
  • Compiles and monitors daily sales forecasting reports.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Merchandising Clerks, Sales Attendants.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Education/Experience:

  • Certificate from college, technical school or accredited facility; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Previous experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
