Associate Architect - Tauranga

Join Beca’s Pacific architecture team in Tauranga and help deliver projects that make a meaningful difference across the Pacific. Tauranga is a key hub for our Pacific architecture work, and this role will play an important part in strengthening our capability.

You will work alongside specialists in environmental science, climate adaptation, coastal engineering, urban design, and social impact, applying integrated thinking to complex challenges.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Associate-level Architect to lead the delivery of complex Pacific projects and contribute to the growth of our portfolio. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring high-quality design and technical outcomes.

This includes managing programme, design coordination, and documentation, while ensuring projects are delivered to scope, budget, and programme requirements in often resource-constrained environments.

You will apply sound judgement to manage project risks and deliver resilient, practical design outcomes.Working closely with clients, stakeholders, and funding agencies, you will build strong relationships and contribute to successful outcomes.

You will also:

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight, ensuring quality, consistency, and integrity across design and documentation outputs

  • Contribute to and support bids and proposals, including technical input for complex and internationally funded projects

  • Apply strong technical and design expertise to deliver efficient and resilient solutions

  • Mentor and support junior team members to build capability

This role offers opportunities to travel within the Pacific and work closely with communities and stakeholders.

Tauranga is the preferred location for this role. There is also flexibility for the role to be based in Auckland, with Tauranga remaining the primary focus.

About you

You are a confident and collaborative architect with a strong track record of delivering projects in architectural consultancy environments. You are comfortable leading projects in complex environments and balancing design intent with delivery constraints.

What you will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture and professional registration

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in architectural consultancy

  • Proven ability to lead projects from concept through to completion

  • Strong design, technical, and delivery capability

  • Experience working with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Experience contributing to bids, ideally for complex or internationally funded projects

  • Advanced Revit skills

  • Experience working in Pacific or similar international project environments will be highly regarded

You may also bring:

  • Experience working on Pacific or international projects

  • Familiarity with the International Building Code (IBC)

  • Experience using tools such as Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, or SketchUp
