We are looking for an Associate Hydrogeologist to add to our Ground and Water Team in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our industry leading Hydrogeology team with direct mentoring and career development from the Hydrogeologists that develop and maintain the UK industry standard software ConSim and LandSim.

The successful candidates will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects working closely with and being supported by other team members, Project Managers and Directors within the UK and Ireland team.
An Associate Hydrogeologist is a person with responsibility for leadership of projects and teams/staff, providing environmental consultancy services at a high level to both external and internal clients. They have technical oversight and guidance of people, teams, proposals and projects and promote an inclusive workplace. The Associate Hydrogeologist is responsible also for contributing towards evaluating opportunities, identifying potential leads to create project proposals, and maintaining strong business relationships delivering commercial targets. Additionally, they must be up to date with technical and legislative developments and cascade the information to their team.
A little more about your role…
- Leadership of projects and line management of staff, providing environmental consultancy services at a high level to external and internal clients.
- Successful and proactive project management of more complex projects / tasks – strong commercial awareness and accountability with timely completion of finance systems and invoicing.
- Leading by example on process, procedure and protocols.
- Has achieved Chartership or equivalent with a relevant professional body.
- Provides technical direction including robust reviews of technical work prepared by others with constructive and developmental feedback.
- Provides managerial and technical oversight and guidance of people, teams, proposals and projects. May lead a small team with associated responsibilities.
- Building strong relationships with existing clients and identifies opportunities for both G&W and the wider WSP and pro-actively develops new client relationships.
- Maintains frequent client communication, making regular client visits and ensuring client satisfaction through feedback reviews
- Managing hydrogeological data and developing conceptual models and interpretation of data.
- Developing hydrogeological conceptual models.
- Use and learn software such as (ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, Seep/W).
- Involved in the following: hydrogeological risk assessment, dewatering, groundwater resource, pumping tests, yield tests, modelling, borehole prognosis, abstraction and geothermal.
- Develops proposals for complex opportunities e.g. technically challenging projects or those with values of >£100k net revenue – is developing awareness of different forms of contract and increased working knowledge of project governance and contract management.
- Is able to successfully manage a number of projects/proposals at any one time.
- Promotes the importance of our health, safety and wellbeing culture and demonstrates that they live the values
- Accurate and efficient preparation of more complex reports – able to convey complex information to others in an understandable manner.
- Effective delegation of project tasks with review and feedback.
- Preparation and self-checking of interpretative (non-specialist) reports.
- Developing specialist skills in line with career aspirations and PDR with input to specialist reports with limited oversight.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Hydrogeological skills of managing data and preparing evidence backed conceptual models (in consultancy or in other relevant industrial or regulatory professions).
- Demonstrable experience of the preparation of factual and interpretive reports as contributing author. Where possible evidence of reporting competency should be provided.
- Risk Assessment modelling using ConSim, RTM and LandSim
- A motivated and engaging team player able to contribute collaboratively to the technical and social strength of our team of Hydrogeologists.
A postgraduate qualification (MTech, MSc and or PhD) in Hydrogeology or a Hydrogeological discipline.
