JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional and responsible current and/or advanced planning work. Work may include serving as staff support to one or more boards or commissions or providing project direction to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

  • Process applications for new developments, site plan reviews, and special use permits.
  • Prepares written documents on planning matters including, but not limited to, temporary use permits, and project reports.
  • Provides research, data collection and analysis; reviews and processes development applications; performs independent studies; prepares reports and recommendations; and drafts ordinances. Assignments may focus on development planning, long-range planning, code enforcement or any combination thereof as required by the Tribe.
  • Performs plan checks of proposed commercial, industrial and residential projects to determine compliance and consistency with applicable Tribal codes, policies, and standards as well as approved planning permit conditions.
  • Develops and maintains automated tracking systems, electronic and/or hard copy files, and records.
  • Works independently to manage assigned projects, demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, exercise sound judgment, and represent the Tribe in a professional manner.
