Associate Portfolio Manager

Responsibilities

Investment analyst in the equity long/short business.

Asia coverage, with ad-hoc research into non-Asian companies with strong regional exposure.

Sector generalist.

Fundamental, bottom-up analysis on stock ideas; and present trade ideas to the portfolio manager.

Hands-on modelling and detailed analysis for each company.

Conduct company meetings alone or with the portfolio manager.

Requirements

  • Experienced (minimum 5 years) investment analyst with expertise in Asian equity research.
  • Established, rigorous and thorough investment process that encompasses both quantitative and qualitative elements; focus on Asia a strong plus but experience in other regions with strong links to Asia also considered.
  • Generalist mindset, with experience across different corporate sectors and an ability to analyze companies and securities from first principles, both public and private.
  • Self-starter with a desire to contribute to team performance from day 1, sources ideas actively rather than waiting to be pushed.
  • Genuine passion for unearthing trades, high energy and a curiosity for the investment world and expanding one’s skillset. A strong desire for mastery in the field and to see one’s ideas implemented in the portfolio.
  • Strong courage in analytical convictions and ability to communicate well with PMs combined with a proven ability to learn from losing trades/missed opportunities and implement those learnings going forward.
  • Strong network and relationships across the industry.
  • Fluency in Mandarin (both spoken and written) highly desirable.
  • High levels of integrity, interpersonal skills and desire to take one’s career to the next level.
