Associate Project Engineer, IT/AV Product Testing

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Define project scope by reviewing client requirements, product design, and available technical data.
  • Develop investigation plans including timelines, costs, and sample requirements.
  • Establish and evaluate test programs in accordance with UL and applicable safety standards.
  • Examine samples for compliance and identify potential non‑conformities or scope changes.
  • Analyze and resolve engineering issues related to product variations and design changes.
  • Assist in the development of UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment.
  • Prepare Follow‑Up Service Procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate or perform File Reviews as assigned.

Laboratory & Project Coordination

  • Coordinate laboratory testing activities, including preparing test instructions and data sheets.
  • Schedule and oversee work performed by laboratory technicians and engineering support teams.
  • Manage project milestones and completion dates.
  • Handle administrative aspects of project management.
  • Serve as Project Handler of record and act as Reviewer of record when assigned.

Client Communication & Support

  • Act as the primary technical liaison for clients throughout the certification process.
  • Communicate test procedures, technical requirements, costs, schedules, and results.
  • Address client questions, concerns, and technical challenges in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support related to product inspections and follow‑up services.
  • Actively promote UL services and explain the value of new and existing offerings.
  • Provide regular project updates and prepare formal reports.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites to conduct or witness testing when required.
  • Represent UL at industry events, seminars, and trade shows as needed.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles in daily work.
  • Adhere to the UL Code of Conduct and all physical and digital security requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a technical, laboratory, or engineering role.
  • Hands‑on experience testing IT equipment and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with safety standards is an added advantage such as:
    • IEC/UL/EN 62368‑1
    • IEC/UL 60950‑1
    • IEC/UL 61010‑1
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of technical terminology related to the discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on laboratory environment.
