Associate/Senior Associate - Security Master

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced data management professional to join the Security Master team supporting our private debt platform. The successful candidate will take ownership of the existing function, ensuring continuity while driving further improvements in data governance, data quality, controls, and operating model effectiveness.

This role is responsible for the oversight, governance, and continuous enhancement of Security Master data for the private debt business. The individual will lead an experienced team, act as the senior point of contact for security master data matters, and partner closely with investment, operations, risk, compliance, finance, reporting, and technology stakeholders.

The role is suited to someone who can combine strong technical knowledge of security master and reference data with practical leadership, stakeholder management, and an understanding of private debt instrument complexity.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support an established Security Master team, ensuring strong day to day oversight, effective prioritisation, high quality delivery, and clear accountability across the function.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for Security Master matters, including stakeholder queries, issue escalation, process improvements, and data governance decisions.
  • Support the continued development of the team’s operating model, controls, documentation, and service standards.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and ongoing control of Security Master data for the private debt business.
  • Work closely with investment, operations, finance, risk, compliance, reporting, and technology teams to ensure security setup accurately reflects deal terms, instrument characteristics, reporting requirements, and downstream system needs.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and usability across the Security Master.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and clear definitions for key Security Master attributes, ensuring consistent interpretation and use across the business.
  • Own and enhance the governance framework, policies, standards, procedures, and controls for Security Master data.
  • Define and monitor data quality metrics, exception reporting, validation checks, and issue resolution processes.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues, with a focus on preventing recurrence and strengthening controls.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for data definitions, ownership, lineage, procedures, controls, and approvals.
  • Partner with stakeholders across investment, operations, technology, risk, compliance, finance, and reporting to ensure the Security Master function supports business needs and strategic priorities.
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives involving new product onboarding, system enhancements, workflow redesign, automation, and data governance improvements.
  • Provide senior management reporting on data quality, key issues, risks, service delivery, and progress against improvement initiatives.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • University Degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in data governance/ data management or Security Master data within financial services.
  • Prior experience managing a data, operations, reference data, or Security Master team.
  • Experience in private markets is strongly preferred; experience in private debt, loans, structured products, or alternative credit would be highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to non technical stakeholders.
