REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Athletics and Engagement

DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a maintenance and custodial position involving the custodial care and maintenance of campus buildings, facilities and grounds, with specific attention paid to athletic buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include cleaning tasks such as: cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the appearance of athletic facilities, assisting with set-ups for events and trash removal. Responsibilities include grounds tasks such as: sweeping and cleaning walks, mowing and maintaining athletic playing surfaces and other grounds, raking leaves and removal of snow. Responsibilities include maintenance tasks that include minor repairs in all related trades to maintain building conditions, including but not limited to interior/exterior painting. This is not an exhaustive list. The position requires flexibility as other duties will be assigned as needed. This position is expected to be part of the snow removal team during inclement weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Post-hire physical examination, at employer’s expense, may be required
  • A valid State of Maine Driver's license is required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used in building maintenance, grounds maintenance and custodial work. Specific experience in athletic turf management is desirable.
  • Sufficient physical strength to perform a variety of routine manual tasks
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to skillfully perform building cleaning/maintenance activities
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices
  • Ability to set up and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and other related equipment
  • Ability to understand and adhere to college policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in the performance of job duties
