Audio Visual Technician

Position Summary


The Audio-Visual (AV) Technician is responsible for the technical setup, operation, troubleshooting, and breakdown of all audio, video, lighting, and staging equipment across the hotel’s venues. This role primarily supports live events in the banquet halls and catering spaces, as well as managing the ambient background music, digital signage, and specialized AV needs within the hotel's restaurants and bars.


The ideal candidate blends technical expertise with excellent customer service, ensuring seamless execution for corporate meetings, weddings, social galas, and daily restaurant operations.


1. Banquet & Catering Event Execution

  • Setup & Strike: Efficiently transport, install, and configure AV equipment (microphones, sound systems, projectors, LED screens, lighting rigs, and staging) according to Event Order (BEO) specifications.

  • Live Event Operation: Run the soundboard, switch video feeds, and adjust lighting during live events, presentations, weddings, and conferences.

  • Client Support: Act as the on-site technical point of contact for event hosts and guest speakers, conducting tech rehearsals and troubleshooting issues under tight deadlines.

2. Restaurant & Venue AV Management

  • Ambient Environment Control: Maintain and program background music (BGM) systems, zoned audio, and volume levels across different restaurants and lounges to match the time of day and vibe.

  • Dining Events: Setup and manage specialized AV for restaurant events, such as live acoustic acts, DJ setups, sports viewing parties, or private dining presentations.

  • Digital Signage: Monitor and update digital menu boards, promotional screens, and wayfinding displays throughout the dining and lobby areas.

3. Maintenance & Asset Protection

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks on all property AV equipment.

  • Track inventory, report damaged gear, and assist in coordinating repairs or equipment rentals.

  • Ensure all AV storage rooms are organized, secure, and clean.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as an AV technician, preferably within a hospitality, hotel, or live event production environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: * Strong knowledge of audio mixing consoles, wireless microphone frequencies, and signal flow.

    • Experience with video switchers, projectors, HDMI/SDI routing, and aspect ratios.

    • Familiarity with basic lighting consoles and DMX programming.

    • Understanding of IT networking basics (connecting devices to Wi-Fi/LAN for presentations).

  • Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, sharp problem-solving skills, and a polished, professional demeanor suitable for a luxury hospitality environment.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods during long event shifts.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on event bookings.
